Designed a unique typeface and specimen book based on a Chinese character, Empress Dowager Cixi. The typeface combined Chinese calligraphy with Latin alphabets, which presents the integration from two cultures.









︎︎︎ Empress Dowager Cixi was a Chinese noblewoman, and she effectively controlled the Chinese government in the late Qing dynasty for 50 years.





︎︎︎ The Chinese character (永) is often used to illustrate the eight basic strokes of Chinese characters. Based on the modulars, I designed my own typeface.
